Did you know that the word boudoir means a lady's bedroom? It's true.
I think Valentine's Day is absolutely FABULOUS because I always get a few phone calls from girls wanting to get some boudoir photographs taken for the special man in their lives. I think boudoir photography is awesome as it seems every girl gets to feel like a movie star for the duration of the shoot, since a make-up artist and hair-stylist is there simply for her, primping and touching up in true Hollywood style.
Now, I realize that Valentine's Day was a good month ago and you're probably thinking "Why are you only posting pics now?"
Because I've been traversing the land, Man! I've gone to New York City and Las Vegas and my powers of omnipresence are not yet what I hope they will one day be.
Don't judge me!!!
Let's, er, get back to business, eh?

SHAZAM!

I have to give our friend here a round of applause for being able to contort herself into the bizarre positions I thought up in my head.
Thank you for loving me, cooperating with me and lauding me when I presented these to you.

I don't know what it is about quotes. It seems whenever I find a good one, a permanent dwelling happens in my mind.
I used to have a teacher in elementary school that said each time you learn something new, a new wrinkle forms in your brain. While I am no longer sure that this is true, it amuses me to think that a whole bunch of my brain rugae came from a very important man:

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
Amen, Dr. Seuss. You're my homeboy.

Wanted to share one of my favorite pics from Kay and Jay's wedding:

Luckily for me, this awesome couple scheduled in time before the wedding ceremony to take lots of photos. They researched cool locations for us to take pictures around and we spent a good hour and a half driving to some really cool old churches, railroads and movie theaters, giving them a whole lot of variety in their photos.
Thank you guys for letting me be a part of your wedding day. Getting great photos was easy since you were so organized and had everything planned out so well! You guys were incredibly welcoming and made Emily and I feel like guests at your wedding.
I wish you the best of luck in whatever life throws your way :)

A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be invited to come learn the ropes of Canoe Sudios in New York City, along with some fabulous other photographers, including my good friend Jonathon Ziegelman (creator of the fabulous 'about me' pic).
Canoe Studios is a 24,000 square foot space with five enormous separate studios, located high above the Hudson River, complete with a view of the Statue of Liberty.

The fun thing about it was that, as we set up shoots, we got to experiment with the lights and backgrounds and goof around with the other, eh, employees:

(Interesting side note: this is the studio owner's dog, Sushi. I thus titled this photo "I Had Sushi for Lunch")

This is a photo I took of the skyline outside the balcony of the studio, right after sunset. Lady Liberty is just outside the frame to the right of the pic.
So, with all this studio space to use, and all the access to lenses we could handle, we decided to play around and see what interesting photos we could come up with. That being said, I have one question to ask you:
What do you get when you put four techno geeks together, with unlimited use of lighting, cameras, lenses and space?

One heck of a good time.

The last few weeks have been an absolute whirlwind. Between going to New York city to learn the ropes of Canoe Studios, to flying to Las Vegas to learn from the best and the brightest at the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International conference, I've taken quite a number of photos and can't wait to share them on the blog.
But that will have to wait because I am starving to death, and the borborygmous sounds of my intestines crying are just all too much for me to handle right now, and so I am giving in to the lion in my belly... by eating sushi. (Interesting fact: I've been making a lot of sushi at home and have mastered the art of the California Roll ala Noelle. It's a beautiful thing.)
Until tomorrow, my friends!
